Hotel room with the best view in London County Hall Marriott

County Hall Marriot Hotel

The newly refurbished suites on the top floor of the County Hall Marriott has to be the rooms with the best view in London. This Marriott is housed in the old GLC office building along the Southbank, diagonally across the river from the Houses of Parliament and just behind the London eye.

Every suite has a little balcony and the view is right over the River Thames, unhindered view of Big Ben and Westminster and you can stare at the people in the pods on the London Eye. The suites have a sitting area and an attached bedroom area. It would be a great venue to host a party on one of the nights that they do special fireworks shows along the river.

The hotel is currently undergoing a massive upgrade as they reposition themselves. Floor by floor, each room has been given a makeover with their new design and colours. The walls are now a muted grey and the decor is reflected in various shades of grey. Fabric in many luxurious textures are used on the upholstery, all highlighted with the accent colour of a burnt orange.

Cute, whimsical London themed art is used as accents and a London map is used as wallpaper. It all looks and feel like a very comfortable flat.

Located just across the river from Westminster station or nearby Waterloo, it is a great cental location if you are visiting London for business or pleasure. The hotel also boasts the largest indoor swimming pool in town. The English Steakhouse Gilrays serves really good local fare and linger for a drink at their bar, which also has a fab view of the river and the London Eye.

Unfortunately for 2015, all those suites (rates from £800 a night)  have been booked up already. Plan ahead for 2016 and book a suite for next year.
